About the work

At first glance, these paintings seem like they represent nothing in particular, and in some respects that's true. There is no car, no building...just a somewhat random array of colors, shapes and textures. But if you see and think about things in context, patterns and meaning begin to emerge. Everything is related. After creating paintings of specific urban scenes, these are the colors and shapes that remain in my head. They are snippets of light and movement that I cannot forget, that make up the larger moments of beauty, fascination and joy.
